Adata Announces New SandForce-driven SSD Line

Adata makes everything from low priced RAM kits to power supplies and external storage devices. And like most memory makers, Adata dabbles in solid state drives, but up until now, the company has shied away from high-end drives built around a 6Gb/s interface. That changes with the introductionof Adata's S511 line.
The S511 series isn't the first of Adata's SSDs to incorporate a SATA 6Gb/s interface, it's just the first one we'd consider a high performing drive. Adata slapped SandForce's new generation SF-2200 controller chips into its latest SSDs, resulting in up to 550MB/s read and up to 520MB/s write speeds, with 4K random write speeds rated up to 60,000 IOPS. Adata says these performance ratings translate into being able to transfer a 5GB media archive in as few as 15 seconds. For comparison, Adata's other 6Gb/s SSD line (S501) tops out at up to 355MB/s read and up to 215MB/s write speeds.
Adata's S511 drives are available in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB capacities and each one comes with a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch bracket. Performance numbers vary slightly by model, with the highest capacity drive offering the lowest numbers (up to 540MB/s reads and up to 460MB/s writes).
No word on price.
